In Another Life − 18 May, 2008
I would live minimally, with few possessions, a modest dwelling, have few material needs
I would travel the world regularly
I would live on a kibbutz for a month
I would live off grid, hunting, fishing, growing and foraging for edible plants
I would be a backpacker or cyclist or kayaker extraordinaire
I would be an accomplished horsewoman specializing in cross-country riding
I would be an accomplished classical pianist, violinist, or guitarist
I would be a marine biologist
I would be a forensic anthropologist
I would be a full time writer of fiction
I would be an accomplished mountain climber
I wouldn’t be afraid to be a parent and would raise my children to be stewards of the Earth
I would be absolutely fearless
I would have perfect knees which would enable me to do anything I could dream of
I would run a children’s community center in one of the country’s worst ghettos
I would be a National Geographic photographer
I would have expert-level command of Latin, French, Spanish, Italian, and Aramaic
I would be an English Literature and Writing professor mentoring the next generation of great writers
I would be a great filmmaker
I would be an extrovert
I could go on, but this list captures most of my dreams. Most of these are out of reach in this lifetime, but some of them are possible if not in full, then in part. A key ingredient for many of these would be my dream of being absolutely fearless.
