The Art of Compromise − 21 May, 2008
I have learned a new trick with Meep the cat. She prefers to climb completely onto my lap and arms while I am trying to type on my laptop. But I have convinced her to lay next to me with her paws hung over one of my arms. This seems to work: she's happy, I'm happy. I am just crossing my fingers that no sudden moves on her part cause me to add bugs to my code! As we all know, cats are the worst coders!

So, if the code's buggy you blame the cat? Sweet. You know, though, it's a slippery-slope to "I didn't fart, it was the cat!" ;)

Well, I may need a BIG ROLL OF DUCT TAPE because after I wrote this, we had the same battle about ten more times, with the same resolution each time (I don't think Meep has heard of Einstein, and where cats are concerned, I don't think Einstein's theories necessarily apply anyhow). It might seem like animal cruelty to duct tape a cat to the couch, but I don't think I will be able to blame the cat when the annual NIH report comes around and I have to explain my part of what we did this year!
