New Logo − 10 June, 2008
So I recently ordered new business cards for “Casa del Mango” – previously I had always bought business card paper and printed them myself from my computer, but this time I figured it would actually be cheaper to get them through Vista Print. So that’s what I did.
They turned out really nice – with a tropical flair.
So now I have to redesign my “logo.” Currently it is a drawing I did years ago of a Rough Collie and Belgian Malinois head – my MacLeod and Mango – in pencil. I scanned it in to my computer and the Casa del Mango logo was born.
Since then, Casa del Mango has certainly evolved and I have other breeds I will be concentrating on – German Shepherds and Finnish Spitz – so I need to redesign the logo to reflect that. I am thinking of another pencil drawing of a silhouette of a shepherd in the back and the finkie in front.
Not easy to do – I find myself sketching, getting tired and putting it down for a rest. I guess I am really out of practice – back in the day I used to sketch a lot more – I was inspired more often I suppose (or maybe I just had more time to devote to it). Now it seems I get frustrated more easily with the project – and wish I could find something suitable online I could use instead. Unfortunately, nothing looks like what I am thinking of. So I am going to have to buckle down and create it myself.
I would’ve liked Casa del Mango to be just Collies and Malinois, but for various reasons I have decided on German Shepherds and Finnish Spitz. I love all the afore-mentioned breeds, but with limited space, I have decided to concentrate on the dogs I can be the most successful with. Granted I have had a lot of success with my Malinois, but he is unique and the chances of me getting another Zorro are slim to none. The same with my collie – especially given the collie situation down here.
I can find nice German Shepherds, though, and I can breed my own awesome Finnish Spitz.
So I want the new logo to reflect the new Casa del Mango program – and be neat and memorable. Something fancy enough to have on T-shirts and tote bags.
I know a few graphic arts people, but the thrill is designing it myself. Telling people *I* did it.
Well, hopefully I will come up with something good. I already have my basic ideas down, so we’ll see. Wish me luck…
