Oh, the nerve! − 16 June, 2008
Good news, all. I had my EMG this morning (there was a cancellation), and all is well as far as nerve damage and muscle loss go. The physician recommended that I return to work part time. Thus ends my so-called “vacation”. I am not sure how many hours a day I will be able to handle, but at least I don’t have to tell my supervisor that I could be out for another month.
This is good news on so many levels. Another level on which it is good popped up yesterday. I had been wondering whether my supervisor would approve a fall vacation. I always vacation in the fall. Perhaps now I needn’t worry. What popped up yesterday was the opportunity to go to Montr©al (okay, guys, that is what the speech recognition software thinks I mean when I say “Montreal”. I don’t know where it gets that. Perhaps is my American accent. Let me try it now with a French accent: Montr©al; Montr©al; Montr©al. okay it just doesn’t get it.)
I still have a bunch of OT appointments and other appointments; but at least I can join the legions of the working people once again. Perhaps life will get just a bit juicier now; probably not in the realm of enlarged breasts, petting the sweaty things, or tents. But at least there will be work gossip.
Ironically, I had just begun to read “Paradise Lost”, thinking that I had another couple of weeks to kill. But can you imagine trying to read that between working, doing finger exercises, being married, working out, doing knee exercises, reading Dandelife, and writing??? I can’t!
So, “Paradise Lost” may have to wait until I retire.

Glad to hear you're getting back on your feet.

actually, it'll be more like getting off my feet, since I've been hiking so much. But I appreciate the sentiment!

Time to find out who's been using your cubicle while you were gone.

had not thought about that one. But that's a realistic point.
