SALMON'D − 12 July, 2008
So I was "salmoned" again today. I finally figured out why I was getting salmon message.
The first time I thought it was a really crappy prankster. I blocked it.
This time the other person was aware of the "salmon" thing and sent me a link.
For those who don't know about it, it's like a three way AIM chat between two people and a bot (with the name salmon in it).
It's like those prank phone calls where you answer the phone and the other person thinks you called them.
The bot hooks two people together. Example:
Person 1says "hello"?
It goes to Salmon
Salmon bot sends that message to Person 2.
Person 2 send message back.
Repeat.
Wanna avoid getting salmoned? Take off your AIM screenname on your LiveJournal profile. They find you through recently updated LiveJournals.
Personally, I don't care. As someone who use to do a lot of pranks, it doesn't bother me all that much.
If it really starts annoying me I'll take my screenname down.
