Will You Marry Me?  − 14 February, 2005

It is Valentines Day, the most romantic day of the year. Lucas left for work and I sat pondering what he might have in store for a romantic Valentine’s Day. I knew we would be going out to dinner, but was that all he had planned? Nope, not Lucas. When Lucas arrived home after work with 6 beautiful roses and a box of chocolates ( the box had an elephant holding a heart), I realized this non romantic had a strong sense of self preservation.

Around 8:30 we went to dinner at a really nice restaurant, Gusto. The service wasn’t great but my food was unbelievable. After dinner we decided to take a walk on the pier in Downtown Stuart. Unfortunately, the pier had been blown out by the two hurricanes and hadn’t been repaired.

We found a quiet little bench, and this is when things get good. We talked about the stars and what a beautiful night it was. It really was perfect. We kissed and cuddled a little. Then Lucas got up and walked into the grass. I followed him.

There we stood in the moonlight looking out over the water. Lucas told me he had a question to ask me and he got down on one knee. Immediately I was tearing (ok crying). He asked me if I would like to marry him. I said yes. And then Lucas, the comedian that he is, said “How much”. And through my tears of joy I was able to muster a simple “A lot”.

Ah the perfect Valentine’s Day.
