A Kiss Is Still A Kiss  − 1 December, 1988

My first real kiss happened at the Kolb Jr. High 9th grade winter dance. I had kissed girls before, but not like this one. This was the first time that I actually understood what the hubbub was all about. The feeling of really liking someone… well, sexually. Oh, and it was the first time that I had used my tongue.

I had gotten all dressed up for the dance as usual, but this time I had a date. At least I think she was my date, I can't specifically recall. Anyway, her name was Elizabeth S. and I had met her a few weeks before at an assembly. She was tall, with crazy curly blond hair and a big smile with braces. I liked her a lot and I was planning on asking her to be my "girlfriend". We had a song though and I wanted to ask her out while dancing to our song.

The song was "Hold On To The Night" by Richard Marx. I remember being really nervous for that song to come on. I didn't request it, but I knew that had to play it since it was a big hit at the time. It finally came one, the last song of the dance, and I asked her to be my girlfriend. She said yes.

As we were walking out of the gym, we stopped just outside of the doorway and we locked lips. It was a great kiss and I've been hooked ever since. One of the teachers tapped me on the shoulder mid-lock and said "move along now". I remember lying in bed that night thinking that I couldn’t wait to do it again.

The relationship lasted 3 months until she said that she was moving to Yucaipa. She move, but not until the end of the school year. What's up with that?

Ah, I remember her. She was tall with crazy, curly hair. My first kiss at Kolb was with Ted S. in 8th grade. I recall that a few weeks later I saw him making out with Tammy B. by the lockers. Oh well.

This was before the age of nerd lovin. My first kiss? Marci L. Out behind the pool the summer between 7th and 8th greade. I remember seeing her at the beginning of the summer. I was in the pool with Chas Kaplan and I asked him who this hot girl walking by was. "That's Marci. She's out of your league." I was determined to get a kiss from Marci L. by the end of the summer. Little did I know it would only take a week! What can I say? Chicks dig me. :-)
