2003 North American blackout
Early after noon, my computer died at work. We hung around for a little while, but as it seemed we weren't going to get the power back on, we decided to go home. Luckily only 1 traffic light separated me from the expressway.
The expressway travel was normal. Halfway home I started to become suspicious that the blackout was more than just a tiny area around work. I exited the expressway into traffic hell. I took side streets as much as I could to avoid traffic lights & busy intersections. All-in-all it only too me an additional 15 minutes to get home. Whew!
We had just purchased our new minivan a few days before. We were the first on our block to have the in-car DVD system. We couldn't help but have the neighbor kids over to watch a movie. It was pretty funny...
