New York City, Here I Am  − 2 July, 2000

Brian E. and I moved from Broadheadsville, Pa (population 350) to Weehawken, NJ (population 6,900) this day. More importantly, we were moving to be closer to our work at DoubleClick. (www.doubleclick.net)

Ahh, The Internet boom, magnificent luxury, laid-back corporate culture, Ping-Pong and billiards in the lunch room, bankruptcy, useless offerings of tanking stock and CEO's jumping ship to avoid blame. Those were the days!

We moved in a U-haul. The Poconos is only 1.5 hours from NYC so it wasn't a problem. Two trips, all day, but we got it done. We actually got a place for less rent than our old place and we were only 15 minutes from Port Authority by bus. Oh, did I mention we moved from a 3 bedroom house with an attached two car garage and a full basement into a closet?

I also got rid of my car, actually my parents did. Come to think of it, I don't know what they did with it. It was probably repo'd. Let's not talk about bad times though. :)
So for the entire time I lived there I didn't have a car and really didn't need one, but it would have been nice.

I stayed in that apartment on Oak Street for almost exactly 5 years (a month short exactly) Brian's still there and he's getting married this Saturday (8/5/06) so he's moving out in just 5 days.
