A Chat to remember  − 7 January, 2004

I had been on Atkins for 2 months and 5 days, I was down about 30 pounds. I had just got done playing a game online and I logged on to an Atkins chat room that was associated with the support forum I belonged to.

Chris, username readytolose, was in the room, she was a member that I had seen since I joined the support forum, engaged in the usual discussion about Atkins. I never thought much about it because I wasn't trying to meet women, I was concentrating on losing weight.

She and I and some others began talking about what we ate that day, how we exercised and stuff. I got a private message and it was readytolose and we began talking together for a few hours and all of the sudden it was 3 a.m. We both needed to get up in the morning but we kept talking.

Over the next few days, we talked more and more, she was married but going through a divorce, but I really didn't care about "hooking up". I was just talking and thought nothing more of it, at this point we were just friends and I was helping her cope. We talked for a few months and thought we'd see each other in Vegas in October. Things started to get romantic around March when she moved out of the house from her husband and I saw her making that move. Trust me, I didn't want to be a single dude in love with a married woman. I had had enough unrequited love in my life.

For some reason, we chatted only, it was sometime in March when we actually used a web cam to see each other and finally, a phone call. I was so nervous, I felt like I was calling a make believe person that I knew like the back of my hand. The first time I heard her voice I smiled, she sounded sweet. It would have been something if she sounded like a 6 pack a day smoker.
