Mission Possible  − 15 August, 1991

Kerry and I hated Morsdon Lung, our band director. After 4 years of torture and dealing with the asshole we wanted revenge.

Since we were newly graduated, we had time to kill. Kerry picked me up at 1 a.m. and, dressed in black, we drove to Camp Watonka, the place the band had band camp. After an hour and a half on the road we coasted the last 1/2 mile in the pitch black and pulled up behind the boy's cabins. We snuck all the way to the football field where the marching band practiced the halftime shows for football season.

On the 50 yard line stood the scaffolding that Lung used to bark orders at all the kids. He would sit on his ass all day up there with his megaphone. We had already planned what we were going to do so we got to it.

One piece at a time, in pitch black silence, we took apart the scaffolding. being careful not to touch metal to metal. Let me tell you, it's tough to do while holding on for dear life 3 stories above the ground.

Once we got all the pieces disassembled, we carried them to seperate parts of the camp and scattered them all over. We didn't want to do too much damage so we didn't throw pieces in the river or anything. We just scattered them around the whole camp.

We got out of there real quick and I pushed the car for another 1/2 mile, not too bad once your eyes are adjusted. Kerry started the car and we were off.

The following week, Kerry's girlfriend, who was still only a junior, told us that everyone showed up on the field after breakfast and was wondering what the hell was going on. Mr. Lung showed up and was pissed. He had all the freshman gather up the pieces and rebuild the scaffolding and they didn't start rehearsals until 3 p.m.

Mr. Lung was incensed and still probably doesn't know who did it. I just really wish we would have thought of it when we were in school because we could have seen his face.

For Kerry: I realize that we told each other we wouldn't say anything to anyone ever. It's been over 15 years now, so I think we're in the clear. :)
Still it wasn't as bad as the crew (you know who you are) who put "Mrs. Lung is an alchy" on the football field in huge letters with shaving cream.
