It all started when i was doing research for my law 12 project on gays and lesbians and i came across a website for the international day against homophobia. Before now i had never heard of this day, as i believe is the same for many of you. So on May 17th join me and the many people who plan to raise the flag of pride. Wear the rainbow, or a representation of your pride to school or work. This just isnt a day for homosexuals but it is a day of unity. The cause for the International Day Against Homophobia, its central topic of interest, the common theme that provides information for each of its endeavours remains a universal, multi-faceted and historical phenomenon: homophobia. In Canada, recognition, for lesbian and gay communities, has been first and foremost a judicial acceptance brought about by the adoption of the Charter of Human Rights. However, judicial advances will remain only that until a complete, unlimited social acceptance of homosexuality is achieved and homophobia wiped out. To achieve this goal, the Fondation Émergence proposed in 2003, along with partners, to hold each year a special day dedicated to the social recognition of homosexual experience. ******THIS EVENT IS AN INTERNATIONAL EVENT SO IGNORE THE FACT THAT IT SAYS VANCOUVER FOR THE CITY/TOWN. I REPEAT THIS IS AN INTERNATION EVENT, MEANING EVERYONE ACROSS THE GLOBAL GETS TO CELEBRATE IT. ALSO IDAHO IS THE SAME EVENT!****** WEAR THE RAINBOW OR RED TO REPRESENT YOUR PRIDE!!!!!! |
