I work in IT as well (for a cultural education business), my title is Web Development Manager but my duties are mostly in the areas of art direction, design, and team building and management. I work closely with marketing.
I used to live in Sacramento and have nothing but bad memories of it and people who live there. I hope your experience is much better than mine was. Good advice: watch out for cops, they are brutal out there and pull you over for just about anything.
